I am absolutely hooked on watching Christmas movies. They are so entertaining and I need to start sharing my reviews on this website. Since they are notoriously cheesy, I am going to watch as many Christmas movies as I can and compare each of them to a type of cheese. I will then rate them out of 5 snowflakes and give each movie a “flake rate” because it wouldn’t be the holiday spirit without it.
SPOILER ALERT: I do not hold back any details of the plot, so if you don’t want the ending ruined for yourself, wait to read this until after you have watched the movie.
It is important to note that this is for FUN. I do not have malicious intentions with posting my opinions of these movies. I am NOT an expert on film, only an expert at sitting on my couch in front of my TV!
These reviews were inspired by Alex Stewart of Sassy Confetti. She is reviewing Hallmark Christmas movies on her Instagram, and they are absolute gold!
Summary
I don’t know where to start with The Knight Before Christmas. I think my whole review would be follow-up questions if I hadn’t already made the commitment to comparing all these movies to cheese. This movie is that bag of shredded mozzarella cheese that you bought six months ago but only used once then completely forgot about it and now it’s all moldy. You try and get creative by trying to make a pizza or something with the parts of the bag that are remotely salvageable but inevitably throw in the towel and go to the grocery store to get a new bag of fresh cheese.
I do not believe in negative reviews without adding some qualifiers to this film, so here you go. Yes, the plot was creative and the main characters (Brooke and Sir Cole) did have good chemistry, but… WOW! Did I watch the movie all the way through? Yes. Would I recommend watching this one? Um…. I am not here to stop you but I am not here to steamroll you into watching it either.
My Rating
I am giving this movie one flake because the plot was original with the whole time travel component, and like I said, the love between Brooke and Sir Cole did blossom as predicted yet not out of left field like some other Christmas movies I have seen where you know the characters are going to wind up together but there is no pre-existing chemistry to show for it.
Of course, I do have some follow-up questions…
- Why was Sir Cole so nonchalant about being HIT BY A CAR?
- Why did Brooke let a guy who should have had an extensive psych evaluation stay at her house at all, let alone for an extended period of time?
- Why did Brooke trust a man who only travels by horse to drive her car?
