These are by no means original discoveries or diamonds in the rough, but I could only obsess over delicious-looking food on Instagram before experiencing the hype for myself. Seriously, enough was enough! Ha
Here’s the list of foods I finally got to try in NYC and why I loved them!
Baked by Melissa
CONCEPT: Cupcakes
WHAT I ORDERED: Cookie Butter, Cookie Dough and Sugar Cookie (SO WHAT IF I HAVE A TYPE?)
WHY I LOVED IT: Who wouldn’t want the luxury of trying a bunch of epic cupcake flavors without feeling super stuffed afterward!?
WHAT I WOULD ORDER NEXT TIME: Baked By Melissa has a rotation of seasonal flavors, so I would definitely want to try one of those. When I was there, they had the cutest Sesame Street-inspired line of cupcakes and sometimes I regret not ordering those…
DŌ, Cookie Dough Confections
CONCEPT: Cookie dough
WHAT I ORDERED: Dunkadōo (Sugar Cookie, Vanilla Icing, Sprinkle Dust and Graham Cookies)
WHY I LOVED IT: I have had my fair share of edible cookie dough, and I must say that most of time time I find myself full after a few bites because it can be rich. You know? At Dō, I could have polished off a whole tub of that cookie dough and then some! It was delicious, it wasn’t as “heavy” as other edible cookie doughs. Also, putting such a perfect twist on Dunkaroos is pure genius.
WHAT I WOULD ORDER NEXT TIME: This is a tough hypothetical decision. I loved the Dunkadōo, but I would want to try something else next time I am there. I would probably go for the Brookie Dough (Signature Chocolate Chip and Brownie Batter swirled together).
Joe's Pizza
CONCEPT: Pizza
WHAT WE ORDERED: Pepperoni pizza
WHY I LOVED IT: If Joe’s Pizza is good enough for Kim Kardashian, it’s good enough for me!
WHAT I WOULD ORDER NEXT TIME: The same exact thing… Duh!
Levain Bakery
CONCEPT: Cookies
WHAT WE ORDERED: Chocolate Chip Walnut and Dark Chocolate Chocolate Chip cookies
WHY I LOVED IT: The cookies at Levain Bakery are thick and served fresh out of the oven. Both flavors were AMAZING.
WHAT I WOULD ORDER NEXT TIME: I am always loyal to the chocolate chip cookies, but I would have to try the Oatmeal Raisin cookie next time. Also, according to @levainbakery, they launched the Two Chip cookie exclusively at the NoHo location that I would NEED to try as well.
Sadelle's
CONCEPT: Brunch
WHAT I ORDERED: House Salmon or Smoked Scottish salmon (I can’t remember!) with an Everything bagel and chives cream cheese
WHY I LOVED IT: The salmon was PERFECT. Brunch at Sadelle’s was pricey, but as a wise surgeon once said, “KNOWING IS BETTER THAN WONDERING!”
WHAT I WOULD ORDER NEXT TIME: Again, I’d order the same thing. I love a good bagel! I would MAYBE consider branching out and trying the Salmon Benedict because the salmon was too legit to pass up.
